Fernando Montaño

Fernando Montaño / Core & Alignment

Born in a Columbian barrio, Fernando’s raw talent and hard work have made him one of the world’s greatest ballet soloists.

Described as the Colombian Billy Elliott, Fernando won a scholarship to the prestigious National Ballet School of Cuba at age 14 and danced lead roles at the Cuban National Ballet, before being talent-spotted at 19 by the English National Ballet School. A move to the Royal Ballet and mentoring by Carlos Acosta led to a string of roles that garnered rave reviews and a reputation as one of the world’s most gifted ballet dancers.

Today, Fernando is as passionate about his art as ever, citing the feeling of freedom and invincibility that dance gives him, as well as the compulsion to always push his body to achieve more. He brings his artistry and technical excellence to a series of barre and ballet-inspired workouts at Earth+Sky that give an exclusive look at the training regime of professional ballet dancers. Each class is highly effective for developing strength, flexibility and a toned physique.

As well as performing, Fernando is much sought-after as a choreographer, and devotes his time to humanitarian activities such as the Amy Winehouse Foundation and Children Change Colombia.
